Great plays from the past — THE CLASSICS
For 10 years, Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre has been offering Victoria audiences multi-award winning, professional productions of the great plays from the past — the ‘classics’. In 2018/19, Blue Bridge invites audiences to ‘travel the world’ with them as they present stories from Canada, Ireland, Norway, the US and Russia.

Up first, from Oct. 23 to Nov. 4 is ‘Billy Bishop Goes to War’ by John MacLachlan Gray and Eric Peterson of ‘Corner Gas’ fame. The story of irreverent hero and Canadian WWI flying ace Billy Bishop remains one of the most critically acclaimed Canadian musicals of all time.

From Apr. 23 to May 5, 2019 is the Irish/French absurdist classic ‘Happy Days’ by Samuel Beckett. Blue Bridge fans who remember its’ brilliant production of ‘Waiting For Godot’, will wait in eager anticipation as the theatre prepares to present a work steeped in Beckett’s trenchant, existential wit.

May 28 to Jun. 9, 2019 Blue Bridge will produce its first work by the great 19th century Norwegian playwright, Henrik Ibsen — commonly referred to as ‘the architect of modern drama’. ‘The Master Builder’ tells the story of a hugely successful architect and a high-spirited young woman as she spurs him to live up to an earlier promise to construct “ castles in the sky”.

The late, great American comedy maestro Neil Simon is next celebrated with a revival of his first commercial hit (and the work that helped launch the career of Robert Redford), ‘Barefoot in the Park’, running from Jul. 2 to 14, 2019.

Closing the season, from Jul. 30 to Aug. 11, 2019 will be the classic musical, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, based on the works of the great 19th century Russian Yiddish short story writer, Sholem Aleichem.

Tickets for all events are available as either season or single tickets packages designed to provide early bird buyers savings of up to 15 per cent off season tickets, and 10 per cent off single tickets. Available at or by calling: 250-382-3370.
